#Verb_ক্রিয়া_বা_কাজ:-
Verb শব্দটা আসছে ল্যাটিন শব্দ Verbum যার অর্থ কাজ।মতান্তরে, Vital (মূল/আসল) থেকে এসছে Verb, কারন কোন sentence গঠন করতে গেলে অন্যান্য পদ থাকুক আর নাই থাকুক verb কে অবশ্যই থাকতে হবে।এই verb এই মূল এবং সবার সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত এবং সবকিছু সে করে।
সুতরাং,
Verb = A verb is an acting word.
অর্থাৎ,
যে শব্দ দ্বারা কাজ করা বুঝায় তাকে Verb বলে। যেমনঃ Do, drink, eat, work, write প্রভৃতি।
#_____Classification_of_Verb_____
Verb প্রধানত দুই প্রকার:- যথা,
a) Principal Verb.
b) Auxiliary Verb.
●#_Principal_Verb:-
যে Verb নিজে মূখ্য ভূমিকা পালন করে তাকে Principal verb বলে। যেমনঃ
•Sahed (needs) not things of a job.
• I (water) the plants.
সুতরাং needs, water দুটি principal verb.
Principal verb আবার দুই প্রকার যথা:-
a) Finite verb.
b) Non-finite verb.
●#Auxiliary_verb:-
সাধারণত "to be" verb গুলো Auxiliary Verb হিসাবে পরিচিত। এ সকল verb স্বাধীনভাবে অর্থ প্রকাশ করে খুব কম অর্থাৎ এরা Principal verb এর অর্থর পরিপূর্ণতা নিয়ে আসতে সহায়তা করে।
যেমনঃ
• I am eating rice.
• He is singing a song.
সুতরাং am, is দুটি Auxiliary Verb.
ইংরেজীতে Auxiliary Verb এর সংখ্যা 12 টি
যেমনঃ am, is, are, was, were, shall, will, would, could, have, has, might প্রভৃতি।
#_____Finite_and_non_finite_verb:-
●#Finite_verb:-
যে Verb কোন sentence এর অর্থ সম্পূর্নরূপে প্রকাশ করতে পারে এবং উক্ত sentence এর subject ও number অনুযায়ী যার রূপ নির্ণীত হয় তাকে Finite verb বলে।
যেমনঃ
• Sahed is writing a letter.
ব্যাখ্যা:- এখানে writing এর subject = Sahed এবং উক্ত subject এর number ও person অনুযায়ী verb টির রূপ নির্ণীত হয়েছে। উপরোক্ত writing verb টি sentence টির বক্তব্য সমাপ্ত করেছে। তাই writing টি এখানে Finite verb.
#Finite_verb_আবার_তিন_ধরনের
a) Transitive verb:-
এটির object আছে।
যেমনঃ
• He writes a letter.
• He took shelter under a tree.
b) intransitive verb:-
এটির object নেই।
যেমনঃ
• Fire burns.
• The door (opened) automatically.
c) Linking verb:-
এটি subject ও object এর মধ্যে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে।
যেমনঃ
• It looks beautiful.
• I feel happy today.
Become, feel, look, smell, remain, taste, stay, run, turn, appear, grow, stand প্রভৃতি linking verb.
উল্লেখ্য, একটি Finite verb কর্তা বা subject এর person এবং number দ্বারা সীমাবদ্ধ।কিন্তু Non-finite verb এর ক্ষেত্রে তা প্রযোজ্য নয়। এজন্য Non-finite verb কে infinite বলা হয়।
●#Non_finite_verb:-
যে Verb দ্বারা sentence এর বক্তব্য শেষ হয় না এবং sentence এর অর্থ সম্পূর্নরূপে প্রকাশ পায় না তাকে Non-finite verb বলে।
যেমনঃ
• Sahed wants to eat rice.
• Sahed likes to draw a picture.
ব্যাখ্যা :- এখানে "likes" verb টির subject = Sahed কিন্তু "to draw" verb টির নয়। " to draw এই verb টি দ্বারা " "ছবি আঁকতে" এই অসম্পূর্ণ কাজ বুঝায় এবং এর দ্বারা বক্তব্য শেষ হয় না এবং অর্থও পরিপূর্ণতা হয় না।তাই "to draw" Non-finite verb.
#_________Modal_Verb_____________
Modal verb বলতে এমন এক ধরনের বিশেষ verb বা ক্রিয়ার কে বুঝায় যা অনেক জটিল বক্তব্যকে সহজভাবে উপস্থাপন করতে সহায়তা করে। এ ধরনের verb সাধারণত possibility সম্ভাবনা, permission অনুমতি, intention উদ্দেশ্য, বুঝাতে ব্যবহার করা হয়। Modal verb বলতে can, could, may, might, must, ought to, shall, should, will, would, dare, need, have to প্রভৃতি।
যেসব প্রশ্ন Verb কে নিয়ে হয়:-
