Padma Bridge - Paragraph

Padma Bridge is one of the dream projects of Bangladesh. The Padma Bridge is a multipurpose (বহুমুখী) road-rail bridge across the Padma river under construction (নির্মান) in Bangladesh. It will be the world’s sixth-largest multipurpose bridge. Padma Bridge will connect (সংযোগ) the south-west region (অঞ্চল) of the country with the capital and eastern (পূর্বাঞ্চল) part. The project is now being funded from own (নিজস্ব) resources (পুঁজি/তহবিল) of the Government of Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation (ভিত/ভিত্তি) stone of Padma Bridge on 12th December 2015.

The total length of the Padma Bridge is 6.15 km and width (প্রস্থ) is 18.10m. It is four lane (গলিপথ/গতিপথ) highway and single lane Railway Bridge. The total number of spans (বিস্তার) of the bridge is 41.  Each of them is 150 metres long and weighing (ওজন) 3,140 tonnes. “Bangladesh Bridge Authority” is maintaining the Padma Bridge. The contractor (ঠিকাদার) of the bridge is “China Major Bridge Engineering Corporation”.  It is a truss (ভারবহন কাঠামো) bridge and the material (উপাদান) of the bridge is steel. The bridge will open a new horizon (দিগন্ত) in the communication (যোগাযোগ) system of the country. It will bring a revolutionary (বৈপ্লবিক) change in the life of south-west residents (বাসিন্দা). For this, regional (আঞ্চলিক) cooperation (সহযোগিতা) will be increased.  In addition, it will play an important role in the economic sector of Bangladesh. Industrial development (উন্নয়ন) and employment (চাকরী/কর্ম নিয়োগ) opportunities (সুবিধা) will be increased. Not only economy and transportation (পরিবহন) facilities (সুবিধা) will increase but also medical and educational facilities will be easy to access (প্রবেশ).
